Q & A for Coilover

Q:Noise comes from coilover kit.

A:Please refer to the typical examples below.
・Creaking noise when driving at slow speed
This noise comes when braking, turning the corner and driving over the bump even if steering wheel isn't turned.
If the car has strut suspension for front, most likely the lock seat isn't tightened properly.
→Loosen the lock seat and apply a small amount of grease on the tapered part.
After that, tighten it at designated torque in the manual.

・Tapping or knocking noise when turning the steering wheel
This noise comes when turning the steering wheel even if the car doesn't move.
If the car has strut suspension for front, this noise may comes from the spring.
When turning the steering wheel, spring is twisted. When the twist go back to normal, the noise occurs.
→Attach the spring tube on the second coil from the top and bottom.
Rotating the coil spring to 90°or 180°will be also an efficient way.

・Repeated tapping noise when driving over a small bump
There are many cause for this noise. Please make sure if the coilover kit is installed properly.
This noise sometimes comes from stabilizer bushing, link, gate and sliding door.
Deterioration of rubber bushing on the upper mount may also be the cause.
→If the noise comes from the coilover kit, we recommend overhauling it.
Aging damage on the parts are refreshed and noise may be reduced.

・Tapping noise from Sports-i pillow upper mount
Pillow upper mount receives noise and vibration from suspension more directly. So tapping noise occurs easier than rubber bushing mount. If it's not a big noise, most likely it is not a problem.
→Aged pillow ball will generate bigger noise, so in that case, please replace it with new one.

Q:Can I use lubricating spray to reduce the noise?

A:Do not use lubricating spray. It will cause more noise and rubber parts will be deteriorated by it.

Q:Oil is leaking from the shock.

A:Oil and anti-rust grease is applied for the new product from our factory. Please monitor that oil leaks constantly.

Q:What is the dimension from factory? Can I install it on the car without any adjustment?

A:The preset dimension is recommended height in the instruction manual. But, spring lower seat and sleeve lock seat are tightened temporarily. After installation, please re-torque these seats at designated torque.

Q:There are many coilover series. Can you introduce them briefly?

A:To cater to wide range of customer's needs, we have variety of line-ups below.
Super-i : Flagship model. High-end spec. 40 levels of dampening force.
Best-i : Comfortable with easy set up. 36 levels of dampening force.
Best-i C&K : Best-i optimized for compact and K-car. 36 levels of dampening force.
Best-i Jouge : Wilder style with raising ride height. 36 levels of dampening force.
Basic-i : Entry model. Dampening force non-adjustable.
Black-i : Extreme vehicle drop. 36 levels of dampening force.
Sports-i : From winding to circuit. 36 levels of dampening force.
Active series : Best-i, Basic-i and Black-i that retains electronic control damper system. 36 levels of dampening force.

Q:How can I do the maintenance for the shock kit.

A:Damper is a precision part so it needs to be kept away from mud and dust. In snow area, anti-freeze agent gets the product rusted easily, so frequent care is ideal. Lock seat and lower seat will be stuck if it's left for a long time. We recommend loosening it regularly and apply a lubricant to prevent a stuck. (Keep lubricant oil away from rubber parts, boots, upper mount and spring)

Q:What is the recommended dampening force level?

A:We don't set recommended level. Please try middle, full hard and full soft and set it at your desired position.

Q:How long is a lifetime of coilover kit?

A:We don't set the lifetime because it depends on how the kit is used. If you feel ride feeling is changed, we recommend overhauling it.

Q:The drop height is not the same between left and right.

A:Original ride height for some cars is not the same due to individual difference. Please adjust it by lowering or raising the ride height.
